“Trek Elite” 8-Hour Advanced Course
May 10, 2008

All-new for 2008! The Trek Elite offers a unique blend of everything that makes for an epic race experience; combining the finest elements of multi-sport and adventure racing into a classic 8-hour format. This advanced-level course has been formulated to offer the perfect mix of mental and physical challenge, teamwork and decision-making, as well as speed and endurance. And, in conjunction with the Salomon Giant's Rib Raid; this year's Trek Elite will represent the Canadian Qualifier for the Saab Salomon Mountain-X Race in Savoie Mont Blanc, France!

This year's host site in the Hamlet of Warsaw is one of our all-time favorites, as this gem of a region boasts so many great features which make it perfectly suited for a race of this format. Approximately 85-100km of total distance will be covered over a racecourse that will combine scenic lake and river paddling, classic trail running, navigation and route-finding sections, as well as fun and challenging “mix-of-everything” mountain bike stages.

For 2008, the Trek Elite has been completely re-tooled into a single-day, fully-supported rogaine-style race format; designed specifically to cater to the interests of both the multi-sport and adventure communities. The goal of each team will be to reach as many of the course checkpoints as they can within an eight-hour time limit, accumulating points as they move through the racecourse which, combined with their finish time, will determine their overall ranking. Complete details are provided in the racer information package below.

Saab Salomon Mountain-X Race Canadian Qualifier

Storm Racing is thrilled to open this year's Trek Elite race to co-ed and all-male/all-female teams of three vying for a chance to win a $4,000 travel package and a free team entry to the 2008 Saab Salomon Mountain-X Race in the French Alps region of Savoie Mont Blanc. To qualify, teams must also compete in the Salomon Giant's Rib Raid on April 12th, presented by the Golden Horseshoe Orienteering Club. The winning team will be determined through the combined results of both events, using a points system designed to equalize co-ed and open entries - giving all teams the opportunity to take a shot at this once-in-a-lifetime race experience!

And as if this huge prize package wasn't incentive enough, Salomon Canada is giving the first 10 teams to enter both qualifying events a limited edition MXR version of Salomon's “Fast&Light” jacket for each team member! For complete qualifier details, visit www.mxrcanada.ca
