Voted two years running by readers of Get Out There Magazine as Ontario's “favourite adventure race”, Axis Gear STORM the Trent presented by Salomon is Canada's largest and most inclusive gathering of multi-sport adventurers. Three separate races are staged to provide racers with the ultimate in choice; including the beginner-friendly “Hike” short-course, the intermediate-level “Trek” long-course, as well as the “Trek Elite” 8-hour advanced course - this year's Canadian Qualifier for the Saab Salomon Mountain X Race in Savoie Mont Blanc, France.
Returning to the centrally-located hamlet of Warsaw, Ontario, the 2008 edition of Axis Gear STORM the Trent will be a multi-sport exploration of the majestic Kawartha Lakes region; the outdoor recreation playground that surrounds the City of Peterborough. Located only ninety minutes northeast of Toronto, this popular cottage destination is made up of 134 lakes and rivers and a uniquely diverse topography - a setting virtually custom-made for our annual festival of off-road adventure sports.
This year's race will consist of three entirely separate events featuring three levels of difficulty:
“Hike” 4-Hour Short Course
The original beginner-level adventure event! The Hike course features low-impact hiking/running on marked trails, easy-level riding on groomed trail or backroad routes, and scenic flatwater paddling. No navigational skills are required…
A challenging but fun level of racing requiring only basic navigational skills. The Trek course features running, riding and paddling sections that put racers to the test without putting them over the edge. Perfect for both seasoned racers and eager first-timers…
The Trek Elite provides racers with a challenging course design combined with elements of strategy and route-finding. This race will consist of numerous stages over an 85-100km racecourse; featuring marked routes interspersed with navigation sections…
